How to Download ModLoader/AudioMod

Certain mods only with previous ModLoaders. v4 mods will not work with v5 ModLoader and so forth. This will only work until the next update which will break the mod.
If you have modded before and not used ModLoader, it is in your best interest to start with a fresh minecraft.jar.
Okay if you are going to mod you must agree with this disclaimer.
Disclaimer: DO NOT SKIP THIS! Modding alters minecraft.jar and may cause SMP not to work with this mod installed. Mods can add new content and it is a bad idea to load old worlds that you played in before you installed this mod. Modders are not responsible for any accidental damage to your Minecraft copy or computer. BACK UP YOUR FREAKING WORLDS!

Still with me? Sorry about all that. Now for the easy part.

5. Delete the META-INF folder
6. Run and Enjoy!!!

For Mac users (only ModLoader) :
Sorry I don’t understand much of this, but is this what it says.

1. Go to Applications>Utilities and open terminal.
2. Type in the following, line by line:
cd ~
mkdir mctmp
cd mctmp
jar xf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar
3. Outside of terminal, copy all the files and folders into the mctmp directory.
4. Back inside terminal, type in the following:
jar uf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar ./
cd ..
rm -rf mctmp
5. Run and Enjoy!

Sorry guys, I am not extremely technical so I will not be able to help every problem you have, but I will do what I can.

Leave a comment if you have done this mod and it worked.

Much appreciated 🙂

          1. Hey guys put the class folders first! then run game (yes it runs black screen) close the game then delete meta inf folder shoulld work for u then if it don’t idk what to tell you

  1. make sure you back up your .minecraft file before you do this.

make sure you delete that file, “META-INF”, that is what was giving me a black screen.

if you have a black screen, delete your .minecraft file, restore it, and try again.

if it does the same thing, your doing it wrong.

  2. Another way to ‘Fix’ black screen is to download the MC Patcher, It makes a backup of you’re JAR and it will start at menu and not login.
    Hope it helped.

  3. WinZip is giving me an error everytime i try to instert the files saying “WinZip cannot continue with the current add operation WinZip is unable to change the specified directory and as a result cannot access any files in that folder.” What do i do?

  4. Yes, doing something wrong. Like following the instructions. For instance, there are now readme files in any of the archieves. I assume that the archieves are to be loaded in the order given? For instance, is V4 required to run V5? Is automod necessary?

  5. OK, thought that maybe I didn’t need V4, since we are all running V5 now. But that doesn’t cut it. Black screen.

  6. if you get the black screen just “force update” minecraft.
However, this will remove all mods but fixes the black screen.

  7. I am sort of new to modding in minecraft and was wondering if it is necessary to update or download new files for modloader with the update of the actual game.

  8. uhhh when i try to drop the modloader files into minecraft.jar it wants me to replace minecraft.jar with them…

  9. eeeerm iv done everything step by step double checked b4 i did somet and i still got black screen :/ help me plz????

  10. Hahha, I deleted the .minecraft folder and then I realized that all of my worlds and texture packs and shtuff. Oh well, it’s just a game.

    1. XD Its not an issue with windows 7 the problem is most like ly you did it wrong, Heres what you wanna do first get WinRar It works so much beter then 7 zip next take the most recente version of modloder and extract it to a directory (a file on your desktop) and open it up, you should see a bunch of .class files, next what you wanna do is go to start then in the search bar type in %appdata% and click roming then .minecraft then the bin file and right click minecraft.jar and open with (winrar or 7zip) and drag the .class files into the open jar file and overwright if it asks you to, then repeat the same process for any other modloder mods you wanna install, then close the jar and run minecraft

  11. Have been trying to install a variety of mods *and most of them have the same basic steps on installation, I’ve come to find out* and I’ve been coming across the same problem.

With the exception of the NOW mod *currently outdated*, I’ve been unable to install them. What is happening is when I go to drag and drop the .class files into the minecraft.jar *opened in WinRar/7zip/WinZip and have seen the same in all three*, the cursor changes into the x’d out circle. This happens every time. I can’t even install modloader to try to remedy this since it requires much the same thing. It’s frustrating and if someone knows how to fix it, send me a message on steam or by email. or JakReaver (on steam)

  12. To get rid of the black screen of death, delete minecraft and modloader. Then open up a finder window and go to…Users/(whatever your name is)/Library/Application Support/Minecraft…delete that minecraft file. Then redownload minecraft from the website and it will run. But as far as I can tell modloader doesnt work on macs

  13. i had black screen, forced the update then i looked in the app support and minecraft folder, the stuff is still ther but i cant see the mod in the mods and texture pack bit of minecrafft

    P.S i have mac

  14. fix the black screen of dead you must mod both the minecraft-1.7.3 & minecraft to get the backpack to work i got it to work

  15. Guys if you want modloader and mods to work on mac just download mc patcher and watch the install mods with mcpatcher on that post. I have an old macbook and managed to get single player commands, toomany items and modloader to work by using mcpatcher. commet if this worked for you

  16. My Minecraft still works, no ‘Black Screen Of Death’ but my Minecraft hasn’t changed to have a Mod Folder in game. Help?
